SDJ-4000 VIRTUAL DJ MIDI MAPPER
In addition to Standalone Player functionality, the SDJ-4000 also has capabilities to control software via USB/MIDI control. This guide will walk you through installation of a mapper to be used with VirtualDJ.
You must have a valid VirtualDJ License to use this mapper. Available from VirtualDj.com
Download the VirtualDJ/SDJ-4000 Mapper File here.
Once you have VirtualDJ installed and the Mapper files downloaded you can proceed with installation as follows:
MAC
- Unzip the Downloaded Mapper File Package (SDJ4000 Virtual DJ Mapper.zip)
- Using the Finder navigate to Documents>VirtualDJ>
- Drag the following files into Documents>VirtualDJ>Devices>
- Gemini SDJ4000 MIDI.xml
- Gemini SDJ4000.xml
- Gemini SDJ4000.png
- Drag the following file into Documents>VirtualDJ>Mappers>
- Gemini SDJ4000 mapping.xml
- Connect SDJ-4000 to your MAC with included USB cable
- Press MIDI button on SDJ-4000 twice to enter MIDI mode
- Launch VirtualDJ
- You will see a NEW DEVICE DETECTED prompt asking to select where your speakers are connected.
- If you plan to use the SDJ-4000's audio outputs & headphones, select 'SDJ-4000'
- If you plan to use your MAC's speakers, select 'Computer'
- Click OK
- You can now control VirtualDJs functions from the SDJ-4000
WINDOWS
- Unzip the Downloaded Mapper File Package (SDJ4000 Virtual DJ Mapper.zip)
- Using the File Explorer navigate to Documents>VirtualDJ>
- Drag the following files into Documents>VirtualDJ>Devices>
- Gemini SDJ4000 MIDI.xml
- Gemini SDJ4000.xml
- Gemini SDJ4000.png
- Drag the following file into Documents>VirtualDJ>Mappers>
- Gemini SDJ4000 mapping.xml
- Connect SDJ-4000 to your PC with included USB cable
- Press MIDI button on SDJ-4000 Twice to enter MIDI mode
- Launch VirtualDJ
- You will see a NEW DEVICE DETECTED prompt askinf to select where your speakers are connected.
- If you plan to use the SDJ-4000's Audio outputs & headphones select 'SDJ-4000'
- If you plan to use your PC's speakers select 'Computer'
- Click OK
- You can now control VirtualDJs functions from the SDJ-4000
NOTE ABOUT FUNCTIONALITY:
Not all controls will behave the same in VirtualDJ as they do in SDJ-4000 Standalone mode. Here are some key differences to keep in mind.
Output Routing:
- MASTER Knob - Master Output
- BOOTH Knob - Cue Mix
- PHONES Knob - Cue Volume
Main FX:
- SOURCE Knob - Scrolls thru VirtualDJs Effect sections
- (Deck Effects & Master Effects)
- EFFECT Knob - Change Selected Effect for current Effect section
- PARAMETER Knob & DRY/WET Knob - Unused
Deck Focus
- To change which Deck is in focus hold down the SHIFT button for 3 seconds on the corresponding deck.
- SDJ-4000 Left Deck - Swaps Decks A&C
- SDJ-4000 Right Deck - Swaps Decks B&D
