About Us
In the early 1970s, Ike Cabasso was a speaker manufacturer in Brooklyn. One day, he heard his teenage sons mixing records in the basement — two turntables, a crude mixer, and a new idea. They told him DJing was going to be the next big thing. Most fathers would have told them to turn it down. Ike listened.
In 1974, he created Gemini Sound Products and shipped the DJ-1 mixer. He signed GrandMaster Flash to help develop one of the first purpose-built scratching units. Gemini didn't just sell to DJs — we helped prove that DJs were artists.

For the next five decades, Gemini equipped working DJs, mobile performers, churches, schools, and event companies with reliable, accessible audio equipment. We became the brand that gave a generation of DJs their first real setup — at a price they could actually afford.
Over 50 years later, Gemini Sound is still family-owned, now in its third generation. The turntables are still here. But so are waterproof party speakers, Bluetooth audio systems, and professional PA rigs that fill venues of 500 people or more.

Today, our products live at backyard cookouts, pool parties, church services, karaoke nights, school dances, tailgates, and yes — still in DJ booths. We've expanded from the turntable to the tailgate, but the mission hasn't changed: everyone deserves access to great sound.
